What is Vaginoplasty?
Vaginoplasty plays an important role in women’s sexual life. Vaginal area tends to get enlarged due to aging and especially in women who have had given numerous births. Such enlargement has adverse effects on sexual relations of women. Both women and their partners are affected adversely by this situation in terms of sexuality.
Vaginoplasty is an operation performed to tighten up the vagina. It is performed especially on women who wish to restore the vagina to a pre-pregnancy state. Vaginal area becomes enlarged in women who have given numerous births or who have had difficult births. This causes problems for both women and men during sexual intercourse. How is Vagina Tightening Operation Performed?
Vaginoplasty is the procedure performed to remove enlarged vaginal tissue and tighten up the soft tissue and muscles that surround the vagina.
Vaginoplasty does not require abdominal incision; it is performed only on the vaginal area. Operation lasts approximately 30 to 40 minutes. The vaginal opening is tightened up by 3 to 4 cm and then sutured. Dissolvable stitches are used. Vagina Tightening Operation is performed under general anesthesia so that patient does not feel any pain.
Process After Vagina Tightening Operation
After operation, patient is monitored for 1 to 2 hours considering the risk of bleeding and then she is discharged from hospital. Patient does not feel very severe pain after the operation.
Although duration of recovery changes from person to person, patient recovers herself within 3 weeks at the latest. Patient must comply with doctor’s recommendations and hygiene rules during such 3-week period.
Patient can resume normal activities within 1 to 2 days after the operation. They can take a shower standing up at least 6 to 8 hours after the operation. They should not be in a pool, sauna or sea for 4 to 6 weeks after the operation.
In case of any pain and aching due to vaginoplasty operation, patient must consult it with the doctor and act accordingly. Moreover, patient should not take any pills without consulting with her doctor first. As dissolvable sutures are used for operation, removal of sutures is not required. Sutures dissolve and disappear in time.
There are not any post-operative risks except for simple risks such as infection, bleeding and edema. Patient must be very careful and rest mostly after operation in order to prevent such complications.
Does Vaginoplasty Leave Any Scar?
One of the most frequent inquiries regarding the process after vaginoplasty is whether it leaves any scar or not. This operation does not leave any scar on the patient. It is not possible to notice that patient has undergone this procedure. Bleeding may occur in form of spotting approximately 10 days after the operation. Any adverse effect is not expected after 10 days pass.
Sexual Intercourse and Giving Birth after Vaginoplasty
Patient can have sexual intercourse without concern after resting for 4 to 6 weeks after vaginplasty procedure. Vaginoplasty obviously ensures increased comfort during sexual intercourse.
Vaginal delivery is not recommended after operation unless it is absolutely necessary. Vaginal delivery would undo all the benefits the surgery offers.
